Bio
Joy Saba is a professional violist, violinist, and educator based in Southern California. Her career spans live performance, recording, orchestral and chamber music, and more than 15 years of music education.
As a performer and recording musician, Joy has worked on projects and performances featuring artists including Lady Gaga, Kesha, FINNEAS, Sam Smith, Bastille, Mon Laferte, Israel Houghton, Adrienne Bailon, Boyz II Men, Stewart Copeland, David Foster, Peter CottonTale, Katharine McPhee, Tribal Seeds, Ginger Root, Brian McKnight, Johnny Mathis, Mandy Moore, Arcángel, Sleepy Pearls, and Gold Man. Her professional work also includes collaborations and projects involving composers such as Brian Tyler, Kris Bowers, Jeff Beal, and Jeff Russo.
Her recording credits include Days of Our Lives, the video game Fae Farm, Lady Gaga, and Kesha’s “Dear Me,” in addition to a wide range of live performances, recording sessions, and special events throughout Los Angeles and Southern California.
Alongside her performance career, Joy is a dedicated violin and viola educator with more than 15 years of teaching and coaching experience. She has taught students through private studios, conservatories, public and independent schools, youth orchestra programs, and music camps. Her teaching experience includes Miss Joy’s Studio, Viewpoint School, Diamond Bar High School, American Youth Symphony’s school programs, West Coast Music Academy, Seoul Academy, Music Discovery Camp, Music & Arts, New California Conservatory, and LA Full Gospel. She has also served as a viola judge for the SCSBOA All-Southern California Honor Orchestra.
Joy’s students have gone on to continue their education at institutions including UCLA, USC, Arizona State University, and California State University campuses. Her teaching emphasizes strong technique, musical independence, confidence, and helping each student develop a lasting relationship with music.
Joy earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Viola Performance from California Institute of the Arts, where she studied with Lorenz Gamma, after previously studying at California State University, Long Beach.
